Tips on choosing a good smartphone

cool phone

To be a good smartphone the phone must be able to do many different things. You should be able to surf with it, read emails, view maps, play games, and take pictures. My experience is also that the shape is a priority for a good smartphone, because if it’s too big it may be uncomfortable to carry around, so you end up leaving the smart phone on the desk at home.

The screen

The solution should be at least 240 x 320 pixels, to make it possibility to read emails and documents on it and it must be easy to use the touch screen. Otherwise, do not have a touch screen, it must have a full keyboard. Be aware that surfing the Internet is very difficult if the screen is not touch-sensitive. If you choose a touch screen, you should be aware of how good it is. There is a big difference in how good touch screens are and how well it keeps to your pressure.

The connection

If you need to surf from it, then it must be able to take 3G. Some smartphones launched today comes with WiFi. It is a battery drain that will have make keep the phone turned off. But it can also pay off quickly when you need online at the hotspots which there are in many places.

GPS

GPS, can be found in iPhone, Nokia N95 and a number of HTC’s models and I think also on the HP TouchPad. GPS is always nice to have, so you can always see where you are and find your way.

Camera

A cell phone cannot be called a smartphone without camera in. Many cameras still cannot live up to the images as a compact camera offers, but there is much development in this field at the moment. Be aware that there may be considerable variation in quality of smart phones, so if it means a lot to you to take good pictures, then check how good the built-in camera is.

The control system

The big players in the market are the Symbian, Windows Mobile, OS and Android. Here it is more about taste, what you most want. Symbian and Microsoft’s Windows Mobile has previously been the major players in the market, but is being overtaken by the OS as the iPhone OS is very easy to use, and more recently overtaken by android who has stormed ahead, not least because of Google. I believe the future lies with android.
